Cozumel is Mexico’s largest island, located 10 miles off the Yucatan Peninsula. It is 28 miles long and 9 miles wide. Cozumel follows Central Standard Time. The language is Spanish and Maya. English is widely spoken. Cozumel offers some of the most spectacular reef formations in the Caribbean, due largely to the predominant current running past the Island. Drift diving is what Cozumel is known for, considered the easiest way to dive. Rarely do you have to kick, mostly just lay back and let the current do the work as you float past multi-storied tall coral formations and a multitude of Fish and Creatures.
Feel like taking a day off from diving? Why not rent a Jeep or Moped and tour the South end of the island and the rugged East shore? The back side of Cozumel is largely undeveloped so there are several Miyan Ruins you can tour. Guided tours to some of the Yucatans most famous Ruins can be arranged through the hotel.
We will be staying at our longtime favorite hotel, Scuba Club Cozumel. Our hotel is only a short taxi ride from town, shopping, dinning and the ferry terminal. All meals arae included at the hotel but feel to step out and explore some of the local dinning options as well! An afternoon or evening excursion over to Playa Del Carmen is well worth working into your vacation.
