Stingray Program

We are pleased to introduce a new program designed for young adventurers ages 5-8. The Midwest Aquatics Stingrays program teaches water safety, snorkeling and pre-scuba skills. Designed as an experience program, Midwest Stingrays is for Adventurers who are comfortable in the water. The program format consists of six 1 hour sessions, 1 session per week. Each session will begin with a short classroom presentation focusing on some aspect of the aquatic environment.

Sessions will include:
• How to help another swimmer in and around the water
• Learn to swim like a Dolphin
• Toothy Creatures - Learn what Sharks are really all about.
• What is the Ocean Environment and how we can care for it
• Discover Snorkeling equipment and how it’s used
• Using SASY (Supplied Air Snorkeling for Youth, ages 5-6)
• Using SCUBA, ages 7-8

During our first pool time, Adventurers will complete a water assessment followed by fun, hands on water rescue exercises. Rescue exercises give the Adventurer experience assisting others from land and in water. The rescue exercises build confidence and comfort, which may be used in an emergency situation. We will spend several sessions experiencing snorkeling equipment and techniques coupled with water games designed to challenge our new skills. During the final sessions, we will transition to age appropriate SASY or SCUBA equipment. The Adventurers are first given time to adapt in shallow water, followed by exploration into the deep end of the pool. Play time during this portion of the program will be devoted to Under Water games!

This program can be scheduled after school, weekends or weeknights.
Contact Midwest Aquatics to register. 913-402-0403
Program cost: $195.00*
• All snorkeling equipment, SASY and SCUBA equipment provided.

Adventurers need only bring their own towel and swim suit. What next? If you enjoy this program ask us about our Scuba Rangers program!
