Justin Drury - Divecon
How long have you been diving?
I have been diving since 1999.
What type of diving activities do you enjoy?
I love the deep and dark dives and I have always been interested in caves. The deep blue of the ocean is always calling me as well. The life in the water is the world I enjoy physically and mentally it puts me at ease. I also just love the boats we have been on. The ride out to where we are going is always a great joy before the dive. This has been a great adventure turning my fun into teaching others how to have fun in the water. After 100 dives I still learn more each time I go out and it always gets better.
Where have you been diving?
West Palm Beach, Fl (6) (Cabo Wabo) Cabo San Lucas, Mexico SUR (9) Jamaica (6) Oklahoma (25+)
Table rock (30+) and many strip pits around the area.
What was the most challenging skill for
you to complete during your open water training?
Buoyancy, this was the least of my worked on skills and was the most important skill I have corrected.
Why did you become a dive instructor?
I am going into Instruction for the enjoyment of letting others see the world under water.
What is the most rewarding part of your
job?
I think the best part is fixing a skill that is giving a diver a problem.
How do you stay current with the changes
in diver education?
I am keeping up by taking all the courses I can and just learning all I can. I also keep diving as much as possible that helps to keep me fresh on my skills.
What courses are you certified to teach?
At this point I am a Dive-Con I can teach Snorkeling, Try Scuba, Scuba Tune-Up, Buoyancy, Swimming, assist with open water, specialties, and Dive-Con courses, I also can put on scuba birthday parties. |
