Cari Duffin - Owner & Instructor

How long have you been diving?
I got certified in May of 2003 after a friend of mine raved about her diving experiences.

What type of diving activities do you enjoy?
Most all diving activities, but drift diving, current diving and diving in surge can be a blast once you get the hang of it!

Where have you been diving?
Living in the Midwest you do a lot of lake diving, but I've also been diving in Florida, Saba, Australia, Sea of Cortez, Papua New Guinea, Cozumel, Bahamas, Belize , and Costa Rica.

What was the most challenging skill for you to complete during your open water training?
Relaxing enough to get down on my first couple of Open Water dives. It takes time to realize how much your lungs can affect your buoyancy.

Why did you become a dive instructor?
I fell in love with Scuba during my deep dive for my Advanced Open Water certification. I wanted to be able to help others discover that passion and feeling.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Working with those who initially feel challenged by Scuba diving and helping them to overcome their anxiety. It's an awesome feeling to work with someone who has the determination to work through that and help them succeed in accomplishing their skills.

How do you stay current with the changes in diver education?
I read scuba diving publications, take continuing education courses when I can, and observe other instructors.

What courses are you certified to teach?
Snorkeling, Try Scuba, Scuba Tune-up, Open Water, Deep Diving, Diver Stress and Rescue, Enriched Air Nitrox, Navigation, Night and Limited Visibility, Scuba Rangers, and React Right First Aid & CPR.
