Featured Trip
Roatan
RoatanJoin Midwest Aquatics for a winter escape to The Bay Islands of Honduras. The Bay Islands are located in the south-western Caribbean, 35 miles off the north coast of Honduras. Discovered by Columbus in 1502, Roatan is the largest island in the group. Roatan stretches out more than 30 miles and is less than a couple miles wide at certain points. Roatan’s economy centers on the sea, locals fish, trap lobster and cater to the tourist industry.

Prince AlbertDiving the world’s second largest barrier reef is what traveling to Roatan is all about. The reefs around Roatan contain 51 of the 63 species of coral found in the Caribbean. The invertebrates and sponges as well as a host of tropical fish will greet you on the fantastic walls of Roatan. Roatan offers diving and snorkeling for everyone. The walls begin anywhere from 20-100 yards off shore in 20-40 feet of water beginning with a medium slope to a vertical reef structure to 100-300’. With easy access and unlimited shore diving there will be something for every diver and snorkler.

CoCo View Resort our home for the week is located on the South side of Roatan. This rustic, laid back resort is really an “Island” accessible only by water. Come to relax, enjoy great diving and get away from the cold. Because CoCo View is isolated, in-town excursions are offered periodically through-out the week. Meals are served buffet style with a variety of sea food, caribbean and traditional American food to choose from. The dive shop is fairly complete and does offer E-6 processing for the photographers in the group.
